University of Virginia Summer Language Institute (TIBETAN)

Organized by Amberjade Taylor

Please help me learn Tibetan this summer!
I was recently accepted into University of Virginia's Summer Language Institute, an intensive 8-week language training program, to study classical and colloquial Tibetan!

This opportunity is crucial for my future in graduate school doing Religious Studies, and will be very practical for researching Tibetan Buddhism in India.

Funding
To attend the SLI program, I need to fund tuition and housing:
  • tuition is ~$3,336
  • housing is ~$1,200
The program runs from June 12 to August 5 2011, with classes 5 days per week / 7 and a half hours per day!

That's 2 years worth of language training in ONE SUMMER!

As a first-generation college graduate from a low-income background, I appreciate every kind of support and fully understand that it takes many different people working together to make higher education possible for students.
